Indian Rail eTicket Cancellation

June 19, 2008

In 2007 India has more than 42 million Internet user and the number is increasing day by day. Based on the Internet portal business success Indian railway has also come up the portal www.irctc.co.in for booking tickets online. No doubt this is a good initiative by railway department but most of the times the portal remains down & its very pathetic to book the tickets on this portal.

Recently , I came across one more biggest drawback of this portal. Do you know how to cancel the eticket and when to cancel? If no I will tell you.

Canceling the eticket looks simple that go to portal select the ticket & click on cancel but what if the chart has been prepared? As per the Indian railway department if chart has been prepared once then you can not cancel the eticket even if you don’t travel you will not get a single penny returned. Recently my relatives went to JK tour and they have to caught the train from Jammu to Delhi at around 11.15am. They reached the station at morning 9.30am there they came to know that the train is late by some 6 hours as they have to caught the train from Delhi to Bangalore next day morning so they can’t wait for the train which is been late. So they some how manage to get the tickets in next train. In mean they thought of canceling the old eticket of Jammu to Delhi, but when they tried to cancel the eticket .. the portal have given the message “The Chart has been prepared for this ticket and you can’t cancel this ticket now.” then they have enquired at the Jammu station, can we cancel the eticket here as the train is late by approximate 24 hours. At station they came to know that eticket can be canceled only using the portal.

So in future if you try to cancel the eticket and get this message don’t get surprised as this the Indian railway policy and we the passengers will be the only losers.

Not only this if you compare the service charges we have to pay while booking and canceling the eticket is huge.

This is just to inform you about this if you feel that by writing against this we can do something for better service please write your comments here so that if by change some railway authority read this they will come to know about the problems faced by us.

Love Letter

North Indian vs South Indian Wife

June 6, 2008

What it means to have A North Indian Girl as Wife

  1. At the time of marriage, a north Indian girl has more boyfriends than her age.
  2. Before marriage, she looks almost like a bollywood heroine & after marriage you have to go around her twice to completely hug her.
  3. By the time she professes her undevoted love to you, you are bankrupt because of the number of times you had to take her out to movies, theatres and restaurants. And you wait longingly for her dowry.
  4. The only dishes she can think of to cook is paneer butter masala, aloo sabji, aloo gobi sabji, aloo matar, aloo paneer, that after eating all those paneer and aloos you are either in the bed with chronic cholestrol or chronic gas disorder.
  5. The only growth that you see later in your career is the rise in your monthly phone bill.
  6. You are blinded by her love that you think that she is a blonde. Only later do you come to know that it is because of the mehandhi that she applies to cover her grey hair.
  7. When you come home from office she is very busy watching “Kyonki saas bhi kabi bahu thi” that you either end up eating outside or cooking yourself.
  8. You are a very “ESpecial” person to her.
  9. She always thought that Madras is a state and covers the whole of south india until she met you.
  10. When she says she is going to “work out” she means she is going to ” walk out”
  11. She has greater number of relatives than the number of people you have in your home town.
  12. The only two sentences in English that she knows are “Thank you” and “How are you”

What it means to have A South Indian Girl as Wife

  1. Her mother looks down at you because you didn’t study in IIT or Madras / Anna University .
  2. Her father starts or ends every conversation with ” … I say…”
  3. She shudders if you use four letter words.
  4. She has long hair, neatly oiled and braided (The Dubai based Oil Well Company will negotiate with her on a 25 year contract to extract coconut oil from her hair.)
  5. She uses the word ‘Super’ as her only superlative.
  6. Her name is another name for a Goddess or a flower.
  7. Her first name is longer than your first name, middle name and surname combined (unless you are from Andhra)
  8. When she mixes milk/curd and rice you are never sure whether it is for the dog or for herself.
  9. For weddings, she sports a mini jasmine garden on her head and wears silk saris in the Madras heat without looking too uncomfortable while you are melting in your singlet.
  10. Her favorite cricketer is Krishnamachari Srikkanth.
  11. Her favorite food is Dosa though she has tried North Indian snacks like Chats (pronounced like the slang for ‘conversation’ )
  12. She bores you by telling you which raaga each song you hear is based on.
  13. You have to give her jewellery, though she has already got plenty of it .. Her Mangal Sutra weighs more than the championship belts worn by WWF wrestlers.
  14. Her father thinks she is much smarter than you.

Know your Market Value!

June 2, 2008
  1. What is market value?
  2. Why employee should know his/her market value?
  3. What are various ways to know the market value?

Market Value is nothing but the current salary what an employee should get from an employer apart from current or previous. Then what is salary?

“Salary is defined as remuneration received by an individual for services rendered by him to undertake a contract whether it is expressed or implied.”

Salary is the term which always runs in the mind of an employee whether he is a CEO or Junior resource of the organization. An employee should always know what is his market value and what he is getting? As most of the time salary is the constraint which motivates the employees to shift/change the job.

If you know your market value you can ask the employer for your rights. Now a days many portals provides the various tools to calculate the salary. Following is the tool which I personally feel is the most simple tool to know your salary and salary trends
